Specific Use:
The cover are designed to protect the pitot and static ports of the smartprobes from foreign object damage/dirt that may clog the ports. Clogging of the ports may lead to incorrect altitude, airspeed and angle-of-attack (a0a) signal being sent to the avionics flight management computers (afmc's) which could display incorrect information to the flight crew.
